Kanban Board

I think a simple Kanban board would fit Satisfactory Modeler extremely well.

Designing a factory is usually only half of the process, after planning it in the Modeler, you still have to actually build it in-game, often over multiple sessions. For larger factories, it becomes very easy to lose track of what has already been built, what you're currently working on, and what still needs to be done.

It would be great to have a small project Kanban board with default columns such as:
-To Do

  • Doing

  • Done

Users could create simple cards with a title and optionally a description/note, then drag them between columns.

For example:

  • Build Steel Foundry

  • Route coal to the factory

  • Connect power

  • Upgrade main belt to Mk.3

  • Build Heavy Modular Frame section

  • Connect Quartz outpost

  • Add storage and overflow to Sink

There are already suggestions for marking individual objects as built / not built / in progress, which would also be very useful. I see a Kanban board as complementary to that idea rather than a replacement: object status tracks the diagram itself, while the Kanban tracks the overall factory-building workflow and tasks.

A very simple first implementation could just be a collapsible panel with the three columns, editable cards, and drag-and-drop. It wouldn't need to become a full project-management system.

Later on, if desired, cards could optionally be linked to an outpost, group, or object in the model.

Satisfactory Modeler is already where I plan what I'm going to build. Having a lightweight Kanban would make it also possible to track what I need to build next, without having to maintain a separate Trello/Notion/checklist alongside the model.
